Medelkom Ltd. is working on "The study of creation possibilities for ultrasound Doppler device intended for blood flow pulse wave propagation velocity measurements" project, which is partially financed by European Union European Regional Development Fund and governmental budget of the Republic of Lithuania in accordance with the Economic growth actions program and its 1 priority  "Scientific research and technological development for economic growth and competitiveness" measure "Idėja LT".

Project duration: 2009, January 1st – 2009, September 21st.

Project financing: Up to 119 00 litas from the special Economic growth and competitiveness program of European Union European Regional Development Fund are allocated for Project implementation. Overall amount of Project appropriate expenditures is 238 000 litas.

Project description: The evaluation of cardiovascular risks is important in contemporary medicine when determining the heightened risks patients and motivating them to actively change their mode of life and take intensive treatment. Lately more attention is paid to inflammation and other laboratorial characteristics when evaluating cardiovascular risks.  However, this method gives no possibility to determine early arterial involvement. Blood flow pulse wave propagation velocity measurement is one of noninvasive methods of early arterial involvement determination, and this can be done with the help of ultrasound.
Whereas Medelkom Ltd. has accumulated large experience in creation and production of ultrasound medical devices, the company decided to analyze the possibilities of creation of such ultrasound Doppler device and prepare technical study of possibilities.
The project also stimulates the company’s activity in RSTD field and gives possibility to appropriately prepare for possible actions on the creation of prototype of the device being discussed.

Project status: Project activities are finished, the technical study of possibilities is prepared as planned.
